Singular Minds

A “singularity” corresponds to a point near which a system exhibits unpredictable and chaotic behaviour.

Singular Minds© is a series of artworks based on attractor graphs of the direct brain activity recorded via EEG of people involved in different mental experiences. The attractor graphs are used in neuroscience to quantify and characterize the “complexity” of the brain’s activity, which has been related to altered states of consciousness, psychiatric disorders, or personality traits.

**Subject n°3**: Resting Brain
Subject n°3: Resting Brain

Brain activity of a subject at rest, eyes closed, sitting in a dark room. The alpha waves dynamics at the front, center and back of the head are projected from left to right. The pattern of brain activity appears more controlled and ordered at the front than at the back.
